Breakfast outside, surrounded by olive trees and looking out over Lake Bolsena, was priceless. This is a genuine farmhouse, and the individual cottages are spotless and have everything you need. The shared areas are just as clean. Once you get to know the owner, he gives you a warm welcome and plenty of local suggestions tailored to what you’re after.

The pool has a lovely view over Lake Bolsena, and we really appreciated the company, advice, and care from Mr. Ippolito. My husband, our two teenage children, and I stayed for three nights and had a great time. The agriturismo is handy for driving around Lake Bolsena and its characteristic villages, as well as cultural spots like Civita di Bagnoregio and Orvieto. The owners kindly adapted breakfast for me with foods I wasn’t allergic to, and the fixed-menu dinner made by the owner, Mrs. Margherita, was delicious. We’re sorry we damaged the mosquito screen at the apartment entrance. The owners weren’t at fault, and we hope future guests won’t hold it against them while they get it repaired soon.

The lake view is beautiful, and the houses and grounds are carefully maintained. The pool was still closed when we were there, though its area looked very well kept. Each house and room has its own handy parking spot. There are a few more rules, exclusions, and exceptions than seem necessary. A little flexibility could improve the hospitality, but nothing felt out of line.

The place looks even better in person than it does on the website. It’s spacious and surrounded by green hills and cultivated fields that slope down to the lake, with a stunning view you can enjoy from the rooms too. There’s plenty of outdoor space for sunbathing by the pool or sitting in the cool shade. It’s also convenient for visiting places like Orvieto. The home-cooked food is delicious.
