Casa Del Golfo

We spent late September in the studio. The welcoming feel and well-stocked kitchen were nice, and the bed was fairly comfortable, though I like a softer mattress. Best of all was the terrace and its wonderful view. Waking up to the Elba sea is priceless. It's a pity barbecues aren't allowed. The staff were friendly.

The view and setting are priceless. Our two-room apartment was quite spacious and had all the comforts we needed for the season, along with a well-equipped terrace and outdoor area overlooking the sea. The staff were very helpful, and if nobody is there in person, you can reach them on WhatsApp.

It's a pleasant, quiet place, and the apartment has the basics, though it's a bit simple. The nearby beach didn't appeal to us, with its dark pebbles. To get to nicer beaches, plan on driving about 20 minutes on average to Lacona Beach, Procchio or Marina di Campo.

The kitchen is full of old, worn-out stuff, and the caretaker hasn't even cut the grass this year. Ants have now got into the fridge too, so the butter was affected. The beach loungers cost extra, which takes a big bite out of the holiday budget. There is air conditioning, and the place is close to the beach, but don't count on the TV or Wi-Fi: the screen is tiny and only has Italian channels. Internet is only available in the main house, if it works at all, and apparently one person logging in blocks everyone else. And so on.
