We stayed a week at Residence Villa Franca in early June. The owners were very kind and accommodating, and offered several useful suggestions, even for finding a mechanic. Our apartment was spotlessly clean when we arrived and had a wonderful sea view. The kitchen was equipped for simple meals on the gas stove.

It's a peaceful, cool place surrounded by nature, only a few kilometers from Capoliveri. The apartments are well situated, though some have been renovated and others haven't. Not every unit has air conditioning, and Wi-Fi is limited. A good option for families.

We came in really excited about the residence, the location, and our private garden with its sea view. But staff told us air conditioning wasn't included, which surprised us because the email had said everything was included except linens. We couldn't justify paying €8 a day for AC we'd only use for a few hours before bed. With the windows open, though, we heard our "neighbors" making noise at all hours, even at 5:00 in the morning. And, as other reviews had mentioned, the mattress was extremely uncomfortable.

The cottages are clean, well cared for, and set in peaceful greenery, about 400 meters from Straccoligno beach. It was a really lovely surprise, with all the essentials and courteous, helpful owners. Capoliveri is about 3.5 km away. The cottages have two or three rooms, and some places would be better for people visiting the island for the first time who don't want the bustle of Portoferraio. Recommended.

The owners were so kind and easy to reach whenever we needed anything. We stayed with our family at Villa Franca at the end of August, and had a lovely time. The grounds are green and carefully looked after, and each unit was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully equipped. It's just a few minutes from Capoliveri and 250 meters from Straccoligno beach. We'd happily recommend it for a relaxing stay on Elba.
