Villa Ray

The cleanliness was the hardest part for me. We paid a substantial cleaning fee upfront, but the floor looked as if it hadn’t seen a wet mop. My shower still showed clear signs of the previous person, and there were cigarette ends on the windows, bottles left by earlier guests, a shower gel bottle spilled over the edge, coffee marks on the table, and cobwebs on the windows. With Covid, you’d expect more attention to hygiene. We ended up cleaning it ourselves with gloves and disinfectant. Villa Ray has a great position very close to the beautiful center of Capoliveri, and the views are stunning, especially from a three-story house with sea views. Since we were several people, having a private bathroom for each room was a real plus. But the house is poorly maintained. The French doors to the terrace won’t lock, even though they would be the easiest way into town without going down two floors and around the house. The outside lights don’t work, so we couldn’t really use the large, lovely terrace for dinner. The shower door won’t close and the drain doesn’t work. There are plenty of other small but important things that shouldn’t take much money or time to fix.

Every room has its own bathroom, and the views across the Capoliveri sea are stunning. Sharing a villa is a lovely idea, and there’s a barbecue too. The owner was very kind and helpful, and the price was great for what we got. Capoliveri’s center is a long way from the sea, though. Shuttles leave from town and get you there in twenty minutes, but I’d recommend having a car.

The rooms are roomy and clean, with panoramic terraces for taking in the striking scenery and sunsets. The villa is well placed, with a private drive that leads straight to the charming center of Capoliveri.

Good morning. Villa Ray isn’t suitable for 14 people and doesn’t have enough cookware. The mattresses don’t fit the bed bases. It’s dishwasher safe, and anything but prestigious. I don’t recommend it.
