The food alone made the trip worthwhile. After two weeks in Italy, Il Vigno was my best food experience. Adria, who isn't local, is an amazing chef. Her cooking is fresh, generous and inventive, with a modern Mediterranean feel. I loved the many vegetable dishes made with home-grown produce alongside seafood, local lamb and beef. Having cocktails on the terrace followed by one of their dinners is well worth the journey. The rooms are divine, mixing contemporary touches with traditional Tuscan architecture. Marc's design background comes through in subtle ways. The property sits beside a stream, and there's a lovely walk to a waterfall and swimming hole. I explored the area on foot and came across Michaelangelo's birthplace. Marc knew it was there, though he played down the many local attractions. Both hosts were warm and welcoming, and I'd love to come back.

Adria is a great cook, and Marc is attentive and gives helpful advice. The volunteers are extremely nice, too. The rooms are tastefully furnished, with plenty of cosy spots to read or relax, and there's a lovely pool. Everyone is friendly, the atmosphere is pleasant and informal, and the location is beautiful and peaceful, close to nature.

Dinner at Il Vigno is well worth having. The food was fresh and delicious, and the owners were pleasant, interesting hosts. We loved the charming, authentic accommodation, which was immaculate, with lovely comfortable beds and high-quality linen. It's in stunning scenery, and we'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for a lovely place to stay and good food.

We booked two nights, then kept extending until we'd stayed eight, right up to the day we had to head home. It feels like home there, with lovely people and a relaxing atmosphere that Marc and Adria make their own. Don't miss the aperitif and dinner, Adria works magic. A lovely spot for a relaxing holiday in beautiful north Tuscany.
