A long summer lunch here can easily stretch on, with the Faraglioni in view and the terraces leading right down to the water. Come by boat if you can, order seafood and local wine, and take your time. The meal is a classic Capri pleasure. La Canzone del Mare has been part of that beach-club tradition since Gracie Fields founded it in the 1930s. The cooking is at its best when it stays simple: fresh pasta, morning-catch grilled fish, and insalata caprese made with tomatoes that taste like tomatoes. The anchovies, calamari, and linguine alle vongole were all done right. Add cold white wine and the easy pace of a place where no one needs to hurry, and you get the soul of Capri in an afternoon.

We came here during a boat-trip day and felt pressured to order food. Staff said that if we didn't eat, access to Capri town would cost €100 per person. We've since found out that wasn't true. They seemed shocked that my friends and I didn't like fish dishes, then treated us rudely and looked down their noses at us. The man with grey hair in the grey blazer mocked our accent and made us feel small. We left without ordering because we felt trapped and very unsafe. I wouldn't recommend this place.

The food was ordinary, and any local restaurant in Italy serves better. It took 20 minutes just to get a menu, another 30 before anyone came back for our order, then 50 minutes for the food. The service was painfully slow. People warn that this is a tourist trap, and I thought maybe it was an isolated case. It wasn't. This is the most classic tourist trap in Italy.

Our captain left us at their dock during a private boat tour, and we didn't know that meant we were expected to have lunch there. When we tried to go somewhere else, staff said we had to eat because we'd used the dock. The food was terrible, and we felt ripped off.

The family-friendly setup was a big plus for us. Traveling with kids isn't always easy, but everyone could enjoy this place. La Canzone del Mare was the best beach club experience of our Amalfi Coast trip, including our stops in Capri, Naples, and elsewhere. The sunbeds, beach access, and layout were all thoughtfully arranged and made the day feel easy. Staff were warm and attentive without hovering, and the atmosphere stayed relaxed while still feeling refined. If you want beauty, comfort, and great service from a Capri beach club, this is a lovely choice.
