Hotel Palatium Mari

Breakfast was a lovely start to the day, with fresh eggs, fruit, breads, and cakes, and we spent plenty of time unwinding by the pool. The hotel has a pretty, clean, quaint feel, and the pool looks out toward the mountains, with little glimpses of the sea from there and most rooms. The owner was often around with a big smile and clearly cares about the place. He went out of his way to make sure we enjoyed ourselves, and we felt looked after. Our room was well stocked and refreshed by housekeeping every day. The location worked well for us, between the beaches below and the shops and restaurants up the hill. Walking from the port took around ten minutes or less, with a moderate hill. We’re young and fit backpackers, though. I wish we could have stayed forever.

We had a lovely time on the island. The inn was very clean, with friendly service, and it was convenient to walk from the port or head down toward the cable car and taxis. A nice choice for a short stay. Thank you, Gratzia!!

We paid over USD 600 a night and were left without basic water service. On the first day there was no hot water, and after we reported it, nothing was done. The following days there was no water at all. Staff said the issue was external, but didn't try to help us improve the stay. We had to buy bottled water to wash ourselves, and the only thing they offered was one bottle of mineral water. The service was awful.

We were four in the room, and after a lot of complaints the hotel gave us just one 2-liter bottle of water. That was nowhere near enough for bathroom use and personal hygiene. They said the island was having an external water problem and offered no other solution. Yet during our two days there, the restaurants we visited in both Capri and Anacapri had water in their bathrooms without any problems. The first day, there was no hot water. The receptionist came up after we complained and confirmed it himself, so we had to shower cold. He said he’d tell the manager, but apparently never did. In the following days, there was no water at all, hot or cold. We stayed for two nights, and the service was very bad.
