Hotel Punta Tragara

The pool is the real standout, with elegant terraces, clear water, and some of Capri’s most breathtaking views. Hotel Punta Tragara, Capri has a strong sense of place, bringing its design heritage together with an understated chic style. The rooms can feel a little small, but that seems tied to the historic architecture and they still have plenty of charm. It’s a boutique stay as much about atmosphere and views as the accommodation itself. P.S. Best olives ever at the pool bar 🫒💚🤍❤️

We checked out right away because the room was nothing like the light-filled, stylish space shown online. This was supposed to be an ocean suite, but it was dark and dingy, with outdated furniture, very poor lighting, almost no natural light, and a small window. There was barely a view. At $2800 per night, it wasn’t somewhere I’d want to stay in Capri. Within ten minutes of being shown the room, we called the front desk to say it was unacceptable and not as described. The woman asked, “is it because it’s too dark?” I said it was dark and dingy. She said this was the last room. They couldn’t locate another one until our final day, when they found the same room in a different area of the hotel. We spoke with the manager, who was unaccommodating, offered no solution, and said he wouldn’t refund us even though we were leaving immediately. The hotel is a 20-minute walk from the town center. I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but this “luxury” stay was such a letdown that I feel I should warn others. The biggest insult was advertising that felt like a bait and switch, with no resemblance to what we found. For comfort, style, or anything close to luxury, book elsewhere. What a welcome to Capri.

The one drawback is the walk from town, about 10 to 15 minutes, which may be difficult for anyone with mobility issues. There’s no transport from town directly to the hotel, even on arrival, though the resort did take care of our luggage. Apart from that, this is truly a five-star resort, from the welcome and room to the amenities and attention to detail. I’d highly recommend staying here in Capri.

Those views of the Faraglioni are stunning, and the pool lounge staff are exceptional. The rooms have lovely decor that feels different from other hotels. Monzu restaurant is good, with excellent service. The gym is a little small, but very clean and equipped with good Tecnogym equipment. Best hotel in Capri.
