The place has a lot of potential, but our stay was very poor. The rooms were hot and sweaty, with no air conditioning or fan, and there was no Wi-Fi. Breakfast was meagre and the coffee was bad. By the third day, I skipped breakfast and went somewhere else. Staff were aloof and rude, too. It doesn't live up to the claimed four-star rating. A tower fan in each room, better breakfast and friendlier service could make a real difference. The only good part was leaving the key behind, driving away, and never coming back.

The staff were lovely, and the rooms were superb in this beautiful Italian castle high up on a hill. It felt like four-star accommodation for a three-star price. The road up is a bit narrow, but manageable.

My husband Niklas is from Germany and I'm from Bergamo, and we chose Castello degli Angeli for our wedding.
