The Proud Garden

The best moments were spent by the pool, in the quiet of the surrounding nature. It’s a peaceful haven where time seems to slow down, and a magical place that’s hard to leave. At The Proud Garden, every room has its own kitchen, living space, and private veranda, with a lovely balance of comfort and style. The common areas are enchanting, and the thoughtful details make the whole masseria feel special. Ostuni and many other charming towns are easy to reach by car.

Two weeks after getting home from Puglia, I still miss our stay at The Proud Garden. I keep thinking of the rosemary scent, breakfast, long days of dolce far niente, and all the great places to eat nearby. James and Barry have created a wonderful garden, with care in every little detail. Ask James for ideas for restaurants or short trips to the nearby towns. Each one feels like its own little magical fairyland. And leave a day or two to just stay by the pool, watching dragonflies and damselflies. That may be what you miss most when you get home.

I was there for only three nights, but it was a really great experience. The welcome was warm, and both the venue and rooms were beautiful. You can cook in the rooms too. Everything feels done with care, and breakfast at the pool house had everything I needed. Definitely recommend it, and I’d stay longer next time.

James was a wonderful host, bringing us delicious breakfast each morning and sharing great sightseeing tips for the area. The rooms have cooking facilities, so you can stay in for lunch or dinner if you don’t want to drive. Ostuni is only a short drive away, which makes this a lovely spot to relax while still being close to town. The pool is stunning, with fig and olive trees around it, and the figs were amazing. James has made such a charming place in the Puglian countryside. It felt like a slice of heaven, and we’re only sorry we didn’t stay longer. Couldn’t recommend it more.
