Fattoria Battilana

The room itself was spacious, with a good AC and a roomy bathroom, and the woman who checked us in was nice. She also shared some useful suggestions for restaurants, beaches, and shops. Still, I’d choose somewhere more conveniently located next time. The surroundings are lovely, but a fairly busy highway runs right behind the property, which takes away from the rural feel. There’s a stable in the neighboring building. I love horses, so that was nice for me, but the smell could bother someone who doesn’t like it. With few restaurants nearby, some cutlery and perhaps a microwave in the hallway would have helped. The lack of WiFi in the room also made planning the rest of our trip difficult. You really need a bike, scooter, or car, since Carrara Avenza station is about a 40-minute walk away. Our bus was delayed by an hour and a half, and then we had trouble leaving town as early as planned. We still had to pay the extra 20€ late check-in fee. I understand the charge, but a little understanding about a transport delay that wasn’t our fault would have been nice. It was a pleasant enough stay, just not the best option for us.
