Aia di Lazzaro Country House

The food had that classic Italian restaurant feel, and we could have breakfast, lunch, or dinner there. The rooms were great, with an even better view, and the hospitality was lovely.

The staff were welcoming and attentive from the start, and the house wine went generously with the meal. For the amount of food and the quality of the ingredients, the value was excellent. I’d happily return to enjoy the place again. Aia di Lazzaro in Casalbore feels like an oasis of Irpinia authenticity, with stone buildings set among nature and hills. The restored old stone structure has a warm, rustic feel, and the views make it a peaceful spot. The menu is full of local flavors. We had excellent boards of cured meats and cheeses with fresh mozzarella. The orecchiette with broccoli and anchovies balanced their flavors nicely, while the paccheri with chopped black truffles were fragrant and rich. The charcoal mixed grill, with sausages, lamb, and roulades, was cooked just right. There are also old-fashioned dishes like polenta, minestra maritata, a vegetable soup, and beans served in terracotta pots. Those traditional flavors are comforting. It would suit a Sunday family lunch or a romantic escape, and anyone looking to enjoy good food in a beautiful setting.

Mr. Giuseppe was a special person, and I’m sending everyone a hug from Alessandro Macfer. We visited two weeks ago and loved the clean air and beautiful setting. Signora Tina’s cooking was delicious, especially the meat and the fresh yellow and red tomatoes she made for us.

The location is charming and well away from city traffic. The owners’ helpfulness and courtesy were a pleasant surprise, and the food was excellent.
