L'Approdo

The room was tiny, dirty, and looked untouched since the 70s. There were tears in the sheets, no desk, dim lighting, and shuttered doors that made the room gloomy. Almost every room has no view, except perhaps one or two at the end of the building. The bed was very hard, two misaligned single beds pushed together. The TV was about 18 inches, the shower was so cramped I couldn’t turn around, and the water only got warm enough with the setting fully hot. A red light flashed on the ceiling above the bed all night. The old floor AC barely kept up even on its highest setting, and the wardrobe was full of worn, mismatched hangers. We paid 200 euros a night, yet after check-in reception said there’d be another 20 euros per night for water and a towel for my 1 year old son. I was told to talk to the manager later, who rudely made up a story about the extra water and towels. At the pool, I was sent back to reception for towels. The manager ignored me in line for 10 minutes while serving other guests, then tried to charge 4 euros each per day to hire towels. Meanwhile, our room towels weren’t replaced daily and there wasn’t one for the baby. Check-in was strange too. They held our passports, and the receptionist escorted us down the hall to the room. The downstairs toilets, both men’s and ladies’, had no toilet paper for two days. Wi-Fi didn’t work for the first two days, and there were odd smells downstairs. This place is nowhere near four stars, and would be lucky to get one. It’s overpriced, outdated, falling apart, and the service is terrible. I wouldn’t stay here again.
