Poggio Aragosta Hotel & Spa

We’ve stayed three times already and can’t wait to come back soon. It’s a delight, and the many returning guests say a lot. For the price, I think what you get is amazing, and the owners and staff couldn’t be friendlier or more accommodating. Highly recommend.

We had such a relaxing stay here. The place is lovely, and the staff were warm and always ready to help. A real little gem for a quiet getaway.

The hotel is lovely inside, with clean, spacious rooms, a big outdoor pool and plenty of sunbeds. The breakfast dining area is pleasant too. The small thermal pool was nice, though the spa could use some attention and didn't feel especially inviting. We only had breakfast because we wanted to explore the island, but the choices were basic and the coffee from the machine was disappointing. The staff were friendly and helpful, but the shuttle needs to run for longer. Other hotels nearby offer an on-demand service until 11:30pm. Getting around was the main problem. The hotel has a beautiful lookout, but it's in Fango, and reaching the main towns by public transport can mean long waits for buses that don't arrive or are badly delayed. The hotel runs limited trips to Lacco Ameno and a nearby beach, but that service ends at 19:00. For dinner in Forio or Lacco Ameno, which I'd recommend, we would likely need a €20 taxi back because scheduled buses often don't go up to Fango. There's little around the hotel that you can reach on foot. The road is in an area heavily affected by the 2017 earthquake, and most of the buildings along it are abandoned. The roughly five-minute walk to the bus stop feels unpleasant and unsafe in places. Walking to Lacco Ameno is also difficult, with sidewalks for perhaps 10% of the route. I'd suggest this hotel for people who want to stay put and relax, rather than explore the island.

We felt looked after from the moment we arrived. The pool is wonderful, and the views are beautiful. It's a family-run hotel with outstanding service, and we loved our stay.
