The bed was very comfortable, helped along by the good sheets and duvet. The apartment sleeps 2-4 and has a kitchen area, and it’s about 10-15 minutes from the Basilica of Santa Rita. In summer, the surrounding greenery is handy if you want to let children or pets roam around. At the winter rate of €71 a night for two people, I’d expect more care with cleaning the kitchen utensils. Phone service is almost nonexistent. There’s WiFi, but the only TV is in the kitchen.

Marta’s kindness and care for her guests are a real bonus, and make you want to come back. The old mill sits beside the Corno River in a peaceful natural setting just a few kilometers from Cascia. Its four apartments are beautifully furnished, clean and kept in meticulous shape, right down to the soft, enveloping scent of the sheets. There’s plenty to do nearby: rafting, cycling the old Spoleto-Norcia railway, visiting the sanctuary of Santa Rita and the evocative rock where the saint prayed in Roccaporena, or walking the Way of Saint Benedict. Highly recommended.

The apartment my daughter and I stayed in had everything we needed: a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom with a shower, and two bedrooms, one double and one with bunk beds. It was fully furnished and impeccably clean. There was also a large terrace overlooking the meadow and a small pond. This is an old mill a few kilometers from Cascia (PG), tastefully renovated while keeping the character of Umbrian country farmhouses. There are four apartments in all, and the quiet surroundings made for a relaxing stay. We also used it as a base for trips to Cascia, Norcia and the Castelluccio di Norcia plateau. Highly recommended.

We spent a week living in nature, with real peace and quiet. The phone doesn’t work, so nobody disturbs you. It’s a wonderful place for anyone wanting a break from the daily chaos. The owners are welcoming and very kind. A five-star holiday for us, and thanks again to Mola Maringalli.
