Hotel Daytona

Service was abysmal, and they overcharged me for things they wouldn't take responsibility for. The concierge should be ashamed. Towels in the room were torn, and the breakfast food was inedible. I've stayed in many budget hotels, and this was near the bottom. Please spend your hard-earned money somewhere else. If this review saves even one person from booking here, it'll have been worth writing.

At checkout, the attendant demanded 100 Euros for the taxi to Pompei, even though the manager had quoted us 60 Euros the day before. We were ready to pay the agreed amount, but he wouldn't budge, and he didn't speak English. The room was odd and smelled a little. The TV was mounted near the ceiling, and its remote only worked intermittently. At check-in I was handed the AC and TV remotes to take upstairs, and the elevator was far from reception. The towels were thin and small, with one torn at the edge. Breakfast was awful, including rubbery-looking scrambled eggs. This was the worst hotel I've stayed in. Avoid it if you can.

After we got back from the airport and took a nap, we woke to find the door slightly open. There was renovation work in the rooms, and paint was peeling off the walls. Breakfast was cold and very limited, with no bread except hard toast slices. The food was overpriced and not good, and breakfast wasn't worth eating. There were few power outlets and none by the bed. Internet was slow and only worked in the lobby. Getting around was frustrating: taxi fares were unreasonably high, and public transport was unreliable, often delayed, and sometimes didn't reach the hotel. I've stayed in much better places and wouldn't recommend this one. I'd pick somewhere closer to the city.

The smell was awful, and the hotel felt old and disgusting. It's described as a four-star place, but I'm not even sure it deserves one. We booked two rooms for one night a month ahead, and nowhere were we told the hotel was being renovated. Had we known, we wouldn't have booked. They didn't even let us know so we could find somewhere else. If we weren't traveling as a group and so far from public transport, I would have cancelled as soon as I saw and heard the renovation. I cannot recommend this place. It's the worst hotel experience I've had.
