The village’s original cobbled streets and countryside views are hard to do justice to. Staying at Palazzo Forani made our family reunion of eight feel like stepping back in time. The accommodations were beautiful, full of lovely original details, and we even took a family picture that I call our “Dalton Abbey Portrait.” We were shown the original Forani castle, with much of its furniture, paintings, flooring, and tapestry still there. It felt special to be so close to those treasures. Susan, the local woman who helps during your stay, speaks English and was immensely helpful and friendly. The property manager also replied to all my questions within a few hours, before we arrived. Each morning, the ladies prepared great breakfasts and were very friendly, even though they didn’t speak any English. I got to practise my elementary Italian, and we had fun communicating with hand gestures. The small family-run restaurants and local bars in the village also didn’t speak English, which added to the charm. One restaurant even opened on a day it would normally be closed just to serve our family. I’m still thinking about the amazing homemade pasta and wine now that I’m home. The location is convenient, about an hour and a half from Rome, with a local train station around a 20-minute drive away for trips to Rome and other parts of Italy. I recommend Palazzo Forani as highly as I can.
