What beautiful sunsets on this stretch of the Etruscan Coast. It’s a great place to get close to nature, whether you’re swimming in the sea or taking a pleasant walk through the pine forest.

I used to live in Donoratico, and it feels like the town has been left to itself. The shops seem 60 years old, though the restaurants are lovely and the food is fairly good. The bathing establishments are poorly maintained, apart from Santa Lucia, and the staff have that typically Maremma attitude of seeming to prefer it if you don’t come. The pine forest is in catastrophic shape, smelly and overgrown, impossible to use, and extremely dangerous if there’s a fire. A real shame. The hotels, including the typical Maremma ones, are terrible, and so is the food there. Another shame.
Tuscany has it all in one place: good food and wine, the sea, countryside, and hills. Unique.
A lovely little spot, with a long beach and lots of beach bars.
It’s a quiet place that I think works well for children and older people. The only downside is that some shops have closed, and you really notice their absence.
