Al Podere Santa Cristina

The owners made us feel especially welcome, and we hope we can come back soon. This farmhouse is about a 15-20 minute drive from central Bologna, which made it easy to see the city and nearby towns, then return to somewhere peaceful and distinctive. We booked the suite, a comfortable mini-apartment with an entry hall, bathroom and sitting room with a sofa and armchair. Its twin bedroom and double bedroom were both quiet, air-conditioned and had very comfortable mattresses. The whole place is beautifully cared for, with period furniture and attention to detail. Breakfast was served downstairs in a charming room, with tableware that suited the refined decor. We especially enjoyed the delicious pastries from a Bolognese bakery, alongside the usual biscuits and drinks. We stayed in late August 2024.

The person running the farm was unusually kind and welcoming, and the breakfast was delicious, served in a lovely room that fits the charm of the whole property. We had a short stay in spacious, rustic rooms with exposed beams and good heating. Outside, the views across the large grounds were beautiful, with crops changing from mustard to wheat. There was dust on the armchairs, in the living room and in corners of the rooms, plus a few dead bugs here and there. I understand that country surroundings can bring this, though it may bother people who aren't used to it. The farm is well placed, but its entrance is off a main road and GPS can get confused. Still, I would recommend it.

The decor gives the place a warm Italian feel, with a tapestry of the family crest and decorative pieces, including lithographic drawings. Breakfast was thoughtfully laid out with silverware, a detail I really liked, and the host took great care of us in the breakfast room. Our room was beautiful and spacious, with a large, well-kept en-suite bathroom, and we were welcomed so warmly. This is the sort of Bed and Breakfast many hotels could learn from. It was absolutely fantastic and worth the few extra kilometers. Thank you for hosting my father and me at "Al Podere Santa Cristina".

The owner was so kind and accommodating. Our room was spotless and quiet, with the countryside all around and Bologna only a short drive away. Highly recommend.
