La Capannina Cilento

Maria made us feel at ease from the moment we arrived in the scorching August of 2024, and she explained everything about the accommodation without missing a detail. She was available in person in the mornings and by phone whenever we had questions. We could walk to the sea, and there's free parking nearby, though the narrow road means it's only suitable for small cars. San Marco beach is wide, with a choice of private and public lidos, and we even spotted sea turtle nests. There was no air conditioning, but the ceiling fan and floor fan helped us sleep despite the intense heat. We also loved the quiet and the chance to shower in the courtyard under the stars. The duty-free corner has towels, sheets, and bathmats you can change whenever you like, as well as a wide selection of personal and environmental products.

Maria made my boyfriend and me feel at home right away when we arrived at La Capannina for a week in August. Our small apartment had everything we needed for a quiet, comfortable vacation, and we especially liked the shared garden, where the well-kept trees and flowers give the place a peaceful feel while still providing privacy. The beach is a five-minute walk away, and the garden's outdoor shower was handy for rinsing off sand. We sometimes had coffee that Maria offered and chatted with her, with her adorable dog, Freedom, keeping us company. Maria was always available when unexpected issues came up, and she also kept a useful corner stocked with household and body products like creams and compresses. We had a few meals at the tables in the middle of the building, which are lit with soft, creative lighting in the evenings. The familiar, relaxing atmosphere made for a wonderful holiday, and the value was excellent.

The rooms were super clean and stayed cool with ceiling fans, even without air conditioning. Maria had put three glasses on a shelf in our room, since each room has a fairly large fridge for drinks, including wine. She'd thought of everything. Her playful, proud "duty-free corner" is stocked with all sorts of things, from calendula cream for sunburn to intimate wash and mosquito repellent, and guests can take bath towels whenever they need them. La Capannina feels like home from the moment you arrive. Maria is an impeccable host who goes to great lengths to look after guests. Her mother, Antonietta, is a lively young lady who loves chatting and entertaining people, and I could have talked with her for hours. The property is surrounded by greenery, and the magnificent bougainvillea over the pergola is a lovely sight. My friend and I missed that little corner of paradise as soon as we left, where we could restore body and spirit. I can't wait to plan another vacation there as soon as possible.

The room was medium-sized, with very basic furnishings and linens. The owner was friendly, and the place is well located, just 300 meters from Pozzillo beach. There's a minibar for an extra fee, and breakfast isn't included. Parking is on the property, but only medium-small vehicles can get in, so take care.
