BLU OLTREMARE 50 mt Spiaggia Playa

We visited in May and again in August. The beach is long and sandy, though there are pebbles in places, and it's wide enough for plenty of people. The water is clean and clear, and it stays shallow for roughly 100 meters, making the shore a good choice for a holiday with small children. With wind and waves, older kids and adults will enjoy it too. A tractor regularly cleans and smooths the sand. There are bars and restaurants along the shore, and summer evenings are noisy and fun. There are lots of paid parking spaces, including parking automats. Walking from town at an easy pace takes about 25-35 minutes, but remember the way back is uphill. One more plus: when the sun goes behind the mountain at the city's central beach, you can still swim here for another two hours. Just don't leave your things on the sand.

There's loads of space on this sandy beach, and the water stays shallow for a long way, which feels safe for kids. You can rent chairs and umbrellas or bring your own blanket and umbrella. Kayaks and SUPs are available, too. There are restaurants, ice cream stands, an evening kids' amusement park, and a playground by the restaurant. People are constantly selling things on the beach, from water floaties, sand toys, swimwear, jewelry, and books. The bars had everything we needed. We paid for sunbeds, which gave us access to toilets and showers all day. The beach itself is classic sand, but clean and spacious. It felt like night and day compared with the small, dirty beach inside Castellammare.

There are free sections as well as private lidos where you can hire sunbeds and umbrellas, and the promenade has plenty of cafes, snack bars, and ice cream shops. The golden sand is soft, and the shallow water works well for families with children. Spiaggia della Plaja is a long sandy beach, just a short drive from Palermo’s city center. It's a lovely place for a morning swim, a sunset walk, or just enjoying the Mediterranean atmosphere. The surrounding hills add to the charm. In summer it can get busy, so arriving early helps. A great beach break after sightseeing, with a real Sicilian feel.
