One star only because zero isn’t possible. It was a terrible stay, with unacceptable management. The owner was rude. Our check-in was first set for 11:00 AM, then pushed to 3:00 PM because there were supposedly no linens. At 3:30 PM, they still hadn’t arrived. We’d booked for four, but the room was only set up for two. When we asked for a second bed, the owner snapped that she was the owner, not the cleaner. We were also told not to flush toilet paper because of drainage problems, and to put it in a bathroom bin instead. That felt completely unhygienic and impractical for a hospitality property. The pool was green and unusable when we arrived. And “a few steps from the sea” turned out to mean 2 km uphill. We had a car, luckily. Without one, I don’t think we could even have reached the main road, since the house is up in the mountains on a dirt road. Such a shame, because the place has real potential. A very negative experience, and I strongly advise against staying here.

When we asked, she prepared it while saying rudely that she wasn’t required to do that and that we should have done it ourselves, since she wasn’t the cleaning lady. The bathroom had only one roll of toilet paper for four people. The next morning, when we asked for more, she got furious on the phone and repeated that she didn’t have to provide it. She eventually left extra rolls outside the room, clearly annoyed. We were also told used toilet paper had to go in the bin beside the toilet, which is unhygienic and unacceptable. The sofa bed’s yellow upholstery was so unpleasant that I had to cover it with towels because looking at it made me feel sick. There was visible dust on the fence too, suggesting the place hadn’t been cleaned well.

With the mountains behind it, the house was a cool, quiet escape from the heat. The furnishings are simple but good quality, and the pool is a nice extra, though it could use a little more attention. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The location also connects well to popular destinations in the area, including the Zingaro Nature Reserve, San Vito, Trapani, and Palermo.

Perfect holiday, with a clean pool and a clean, comfortable house. The air was cool and breezy, and the view was beautiful.
