Heart of Castellammare

Stay away! We were told only shortly before arrival that the private parking space included in our booking wasn’t available, so it was take it or leave it. The apartment was filthy, with spiders, dust, and very long hairs in the sheets. The linen was old and worn, seeming recycled and never washed. The lock on the door doesn’t work. There’s one meter for both apartments, so you can’t run the air conditioning and heater at the same time. The chairs were patched with screws, and the furniture looked at least 60 years old and was no longer usable. Both the owner and the cleaner were very rude. We’ve been coming to Sicily for 10 years and fortunately haven’t met people like this before.

The apartment is central, which is its one good point, but parking is a problem. After hours of travel, we had to clean everything from top to bottom, including the drawers, wardrobe, bedside tables, bathroom cabinet, and kitchen Kappa. Some things also felt unsafe. The chairs would open while we were eating, and you’d sink into their frames. Avoid!

The terrace was lovely for relaxing after the beach or having dinner by candlelight, and the location made it easy to get to places like the Zingaro Nature Reserve. The apartment sits right at the start of the pedestrian streets, surrounded by places for dinner, aperitivo, and shopping. The port, with its bars and restaurants, is very close too. It’s a nice apartment in the town center, with free parking outside. Highly recommended.
