Hotel La Tavernetta

The location is excellent, but the facilities feel quite dated and the service fell short of what I’d expect at this price. With the room rates already so high, I found the extra €5 charge for beach towels and the fee for luggage storage after checkout disappointing and inappropriate.

We appreciated the free parking, a real luxury in Sicily, although it takes a short walk to get there. The hotel is a cozy boutique place with stunning views, a lovely pool area and a great location. Our triple room was on the second floor above reception. There’s no elevator, which wasn’t a problem for us, but might be for some people. We could hear conversations from downstairs and the next room because the soundproofing wasn’t great. The AC sits right beside the bed and blows straight onto it, so we couldn’t comfortably leave it on overnight. The ceiling fan worked well, thankfully. A few small details like these kept the stay from getting a full five stars.

We only had four nights at La Tavernetta Hotel, but everything about our stay felt just right. The lush green gardens overlook the mountains and sea, and the hotel sits in the heart of Scopello. The pool has a lovely sea backdrop, service was excellent, and breakfast on the panoramic terrace was delicious. A special thank you to the kind young Giorgia at reception. She arranged a transfer for us from a bus stop 40 km away, greeted us with a warm smile, checked us in, and kept helping us right up until we left. This place felt like a little slice of paradise in Sicily. We highly recommend it and are sure we’ll return.

We only visited the restaurant, and the food was great with generous portions. The staff were both professional and cheerful. The view is spectacular, especially around sunset. I’d recommend coming for dinner if you’re in the area.
