Comes 5 Home

That bedroom deserves a mention first: it was high-ceilinged and very cool. In early July, with daytime temperatures around 33°C, I only switched on the air conditioning while getting into my wedding suit. The room kept the heat out, though not the light, which came through easily. Early risers won’t mind, but anyone hoping to sleep late might. After more than 10 years of renting apartments through Booking.com and B&Bs on Airbnb in Italy, this place jumps straight to first place. For a more than reasonable high-season price, the hostess was thoughtful and precise over WhatsApp. The modern bathroom had a comfortable walk-in shower and a wall niche holding Breeze Tea Bianco, so I could toss my travel Palmolive. There was a living room with coffee tables, sofas, a TV, and a coffee maker tower, the kind of space that makes you want to invite people over. Outside the door were an umbrella and mosquito nets on the room windows, plus a MINI-BAR with water and juice included, a lifesaver. Two small gripes: the bed was too hard for my taste, and the room wasn’t dark enough in the morning. Finally, applause for Comes and the other mediocre B&Bs in town. I’ll just say, imagine, you can.
