The valley is full of beautiful rolling hills, and this property sits in a lovely part of Tuscany. It was restored from a much older, very desolate farmhouse, and some of the original walls are still there. The condos have modern interiors but retain old Tuscan or Italian floors and walls. Most bathrooms are very modern, comfortable, and welcoming. The current owners have clearly put time and effort into the details of these individual apartments. They’re flexible, speak several languages, and are excellent. A few things still need attention from a US comfort perspective, but they’re definitely on the right track.

What makes Il Cellese special is the personal welcome. Sergio, who owns the hotel and nearby winery of the same name, brings energy and understated taste to both properties. Sylvia, the ever-charming hotel manager, complements him beautifully. It feels like visiting family, and many guests return year after year. Sergio even offered to whip up black truffle pasta so we could keep talking for a few more hours. Sylvia’s complimentary bottle of superb Chianti and brilliant brunch might tempt you to stay longer. Give in if you can. You arrive as a client and leave as a friend. The setting lives up to the Tuscany of your dreams, with stunning views, a luxurious pool, and larger-than-usual apartments that invite a longer stay. It’s wonderfully quiet, and a good book or a romantic walk in the countryside suits the mood. By car, it’s a perfect base for exploring Florence and Siena. It felt like being an extra in “Under the Tuscan Sun.”

Sergio and Silvia are lovely hosts. From the moment you arrive, they make you feel like part of their family, and that feeling stays with you after you leave. Il Cellese is just the place for anyone dreaming of Tuscany, with beautiful accommodation, attentive service, traditional food, and exceptional views. I highly recommend it for an authentic experience.

We took a private tour of the grounds and had a private lunch and wine tasting in early August 2019. The winery was absolutely beautiful, the food amazing, and the wine top notch. Sergio made the experience even better. Make sure to stop here, you won't be disappointed. I highly recommend it.

Our room was spacious and had incredible views, and we had a great time here. The setting is isolated and private, with just the other guests around, but nearby towns are still convenient to visit or shop in.
