Hotel la Vela

I've stayed here twice because the rate is quite low and the location works well as a starting point for work trips. The price seems fair for what's offered, and the staff are honest. The rooms are spacious, but make sure you get one with a comfortable bed. On my first visit the bed was fine, while on the second I couldn't sleep. The hotel feels stuck 30 or 40 years in the past: the walls were scratched and damaged, and the sockets on both sides of the bed had no frames and were hanging loose, with a risk of electrocution. Breakfast was meager, just packaged products.

We came back to stay here for the second time while going to see Ligabue's concert. It's in a great spot, and the rooms are quiet and clean. The service was excellent, and breakfast was good. We'll be back for the next concert.

The central location is handy, and for one night the place is okay, as long as you aren't on the factory side. The room was spacious and the bathroom was large, but the towels had stains and most of the shower gel bottles were used or empty, with only one full bottle. It's a stretch to call this a three-star hotel. I also wish guests were warned that nighttime attacks on factories can knock out power to refrigerator motors, or cause similar disturbances that interrupt sleep. The managers might ask what they can do, but if they know this happens, they could at least buy earplugs. The restaurant downstairs is 900 meters away.

The receptionists were kind, which was the one good thing. The room was dirty, and so was the bathroom, with its ceiling peeling. This was right at the limit of human dignity. I've got several photos, I just need to find a way to post them.
