Great room, personal breakfast.

The street leading to this B&B in Castelsardo ends there, so be prepared to reverse in or maneuver a small car. It's not far from the shopping area. The old building was quiet, though the bed made noise. Our hostess was a very kind elderly lady who only speaks Italian. Breakfast was included, with pastries, toast, coffee, juice and a sandwich. Excellent.

The owner was kind and helpful, but that couldn't make up for the state of the place. The building is old, dilapidated and not very clean, and the room felt carelessly furnished, with no attention to detail. There was only a damaged headboard, no bedside tables, and the bathroom had no window, a toilet without a lid, an awkward shower tray and a tiny sink. Toiletries were in bottles used by everyone, and the soap was mostly water. The TV didn't work. Breakfast was average, nothing special. I'm not particularly picky, but rooms should have at least a basic level of decor. Overall, the property deserves a bad review.

We paid €95 a night for a rundown room that was nothing like the one shown on Booking.com, furnishings included. The owner's mother said those photos were from nine years ago, when the property was new. We told them photos should be kept current, since a booking based on pictures that don't reflect reality is a scam. The breakfast photos showed a buffet of fresh products, but what was offered was packaged snacks, so we turned it down and ate at a café instead. There were so many problems in the room: a strong sewer smell from the bathroom; a bidet that shifted when used; no toilet lid; a disgustingly rusty shower, no storage space except yellowed suction cups, a drain that didn't work properly and a shower gel bottle already used by other guests. The sink cabinet was damaged and crooked, the mosquito net didn't work, and the air conditioning remote didn't work either, with the split unit in the wrong position. Two pillows had no pillowcases and had already been used by other guests. There were holes in the wall, only half a roll of toilet paper and no spare, a chair with soiled fabric, and filthy bedding. We wanted to pay by debit card but were told it wasn't possible and to get cash at a nearby ATM. I had to ask for a receipt during checkout that morning. Before posting a Google review, we messaged the owner through Booking.com. Instead of apologizing or trying to improve the service, she attacked us on the staff, saying we brought no peace and love and didn't respect other people's work. It's a shame: we work too, earn money, and then spend it on vacation supporting people who don't know how to run a hospitality business. They want cash, not peace and love, and only issue a receipt if you specifically ask. I'd rate it below zero if I could, so it's a 1.
