Hotel Residence La Baia

The worst part was feeling ill throughout the stay. The bed seemed full of dust mites, and I had red eyes, a runny nose, constant sneezing, painful headaches, and itchy red spots. I had to see a doctor as soon as I got home. I doubt the sheets were changed; they seemed to have just been rearranged to look clean. I had booked 11 nights but left after six and flew home early. I also strongly suspect the hotel tried to scam me. After I arrived at Olbia Airport, my airline said my delayed luggage would be delivered to the hotel the next day. It didn't arrive then, or the day after. For the first few days I wore the same clothes, washed them in the sink, and bought underwear to get by. On the fourth day I saw the airline's delivery van arrive. When I asked at reception minutes later, the male receptionist said nothing had been received. I soon got an email from the delivery service saying the bag had been handed to the hotel. The receptionist still denied it, despite my seeing the van, and said they'd brought “some small items” instead. He told me to ask at the bar downstairs, which supposedly wasn't connected to the hotel, even though it had the same name and logo. Something clearly felt wrong. When I said I'd call the delivery company and the police, the receptionist panicked. Five minutes later my luggage “miraculously” turned up. I don't think that was a coincidence. As a solo female traveler who didn't know the local language, I felt deliberately targeted. Being Swiss may have made me seem like an easy mark. I strongly advise avoiding this place.
