Althea Palace Hotel

The welcome was warm from the moment I came in, and the smooth check-in made the stay feel easy from the start. The staff were efficient and genuinely friendly, taking time to explain the hotel amenities and nearby attractions. I felt at home right away. I highly recommend it and look forward to coming back to Castelvetrano.

The room was clean, though in our room, not necessarily all rooms, hot water took 5 to 15 minutes to come through. I suspect it depended on how many guests were using the system. For a four-star hotel, the food left a lot to be desired. The location is okay, but being away from town life means driving each day to get to attractions. There’s a shopping mall about a 10-minute walk away, though that route didn’t feel very safe. The front office and waiting staff could be more accommodating, and the welcoming atmosphere just wasn’t there. Overall, I’d call it a middle-level hotel.

The only real plus for me was being near Bellacittà shopping centre, though getting there means walking along a busy main road. The hotel itself is run down, beside a car dealer and an industrial area. Calling it four stars is a joke, it feels more like three. Breakfast was minimal, dinner was bland and repetitive, the terrace was covered in pigeon dirt, and there were no facilities.

The staff were friendly and even helped jump-start my car, but I’d pick somewhere else on my next visit. The location is convenient and the price is middling, with breakfast included, though breakfast was disappointing. The croissants were only so-so, and there was a coffee machine and a pressed orange juice machine. My room looked clean at first, but I noticed insects in the bathroom. It had no window or vent, so there was no airflow. The shower was roomy but had a small showerhead. Wind also made the bamboo balcony divider noisy.
