B&B Rose Garden

Liliana and Renato are wonderful hosts, and I loved staying with them. The room had air conditioning and a comfortable bed, and the bathroom and shower were great. The B&B is about a 20-minute walk from the Greek ruins in the archaeological park, though Renato kindly drove me there. Liliana made delicious breakfasts, along with excellent jams and honey.

The staff were polite and discreet, and the room was spacious, clean, pleasantly scented, and well air-conditioned. It was only minutes from Selinunte's archaeological park and the beach, with a pizzeria, tobacconist, and bakery nearby. The bathroom had a large, comfortable shower. I'd happily repeat the experience.

We ended up leaving before paying, with the woman shouting after us, and I don't understand how Booking.com still lists this property. When we told her the room was dirty, she yelled insults at us instead of apologizing. My wife and I had only planned to stay one night, but the state of the room was awful. The smell was noticeable as soon as we reached the door. The furniture looked old and rotten, the wardrobe seemed made of papier-mâché, and the bedside tables had about an inch and a half of dust on them. The bed's headboard was falling apart, and the pillowcase had a mascara-like stain, or something like it. Wiping a bedside table even turned up a dried, crumbling contact lens. The bathroom seemed a little cleaner at first, but there were cobwebs everywhere. A woman who seemed foreign and was poorly dressed greeted us at the door and initially came across as kind. She said the room was ready and showed us in. The photos on the website had given us a very different impression. It was a real nightmare.

We waited behind the gate for two hours with no one coming to let us in. No one answered the phone number either.
