La Villa del Re - Adults Only - Small Luxury Hotels of the World

I’ve never been so disappointed or felt so misled by a hotel. I paid €1,500 for two nights and expected something to justify the cost, but this was the worst hotel I’ve stayed at in Sardinia. Even at half the price, I wouldn’t recommend it. The property is very small, and getting there is expensive. A taxi or transfer from the airport costs around €140 each way. The beach was covered in seaweed, both in the water and on the shore, and it wasn’t being cleaned. It looked nothing like the photos. The sun loungers were the cheapest kind, without cushions, which I’d expect even at an average three-star hotel. It doesn’t feel like a new hotel, and little seems to have been spent on upkeep or improvements. The prices are extremely high, while the investment in the place seems minimal. I booked after reading so many positive reviews, which now seems strange. For the same money, you could stay somewhere genuinely luxurious. This small property feels like it should cost no more than €250 a night, but charges €750-1,000. Then there’s another €300 a day to budget for lunch and dinner. I’m not greedy and I’m willing to pay a lot, but I expect a fair price for what I get. If this saves even one person’s money, it will have served its purpose. Most guests seemed to be over 60, the sort of clientele who may not complain or ask for much. People arrive, but hardly anyone seems to swim in the sea or use the pool. I really don’t understand why someone would choose this place intentionally. And one last thing: in the room, there were a few Nescafé sachets instead of a coffee machine.

We came for part of our honeymoon, but left disappointed. With the luxury hotel prices, I expected a lot more. A glass of bad wine cost €30+, the walls were so thin we could hear everything in the rooms beside us, and when we needed to check out a day early, they wouldn’t refund that night. It was extremely overpriced and didn’t feel worth it. We’ll definitely return to Sardegna, just not Villa de re.

We were impressed from the moment we arrived at La Villa Del Re. The staff took care of our luggage and parked the car, then the front desk team welcomed us warmly and showed us around the property. We were lucky to get an early check-in, so we could change and enjoy the beautiful beach. There are beach chairs and umbrellas, and the beach service was great. You can text a number and they’ll bring you what you want. Dinner was the highlight for us, an incredible experience with delicious food and every detail taken care of. La Villa Del Re is a true five-star small luxury hotel, and the service and quality really impressed my wife and me. We wish we could’ve stayed longer, and highly recommend it.

La Villa del Re is a magical place with incredible staff, and a great choice if you want to recharge in nature while still having five-star facilities. You can have a relaxing stay or keep busy with the beach, pool, gym, and complimentary kayak service. The restaurants are excellent for both food and distinctive service, though you’ll pay a premium.
