Guido's House

The biggest downsides for us were having no usable Wi-Fi for the full two weeks, since it was down or the signal was too weak, and a very firm master bed. We prefer a softer mattress, though this one would suit you if you like a firm bed. The rest made a good base with the basics, and we were pleasantly surprised by the town, which is cute and fun to explore, as well as its convenient location for visiting other areas. Fiammetta and Gianfranco were lovely and extremely helpful hosts. They accepted us at very short notice after we had to leave our originally booked Airbnb farmhouse because it wasn't safe, and waited until 10pm for our arrival. They replied quickly, checked that we had what we needed, helped us book haircuts, and even drove us to the salon. We stayed for two weeks as a family of five, Mum, Dad, children aged 4 and 2, and a baby. The flat is the upper unit in a four-plex; the hosts live downstairs and there are other neighbors, so some noise carries between flats. The apartment is clean and comfortable, but basic. The bedrooms have decent space and lots of storage, the bathroom is large with a smaller shower, and the main room combines a couch area, dining space, and kitchen. Each room has one window. We were there in March during dark, bad weather, so the main room felt dim and we needed the lights on. The kitchen had most things we needed, including a full-size apartment fridge rather than a mini fridge. There's a big yard and plenty of parking, and the little complex felt safe enough for the kids to run around outside with minimal supervision. We had a lot of bad weather and spent plenty of time indoors, which wasn't ideal with kids, though it would be fine for adults or for children in warmer weather. I'd say a car is essential: I saw bus stops, but hardly ever saw buses. Thank you again, Fiammetta and Gianfranco, for your hospitality!

Fiammetta and Gianfranco are wonderful hosts. Their house in the countryside is a peaceful spot to relax and a great choice for a comfortable break.

A peaceful place in the countryside, close to the town of Castiglion Fiorentino. Really lovely, and highly recommended.
