La Locanda di Gege'

The food was decent, though nothing special, and the grilled meat took far too long to arrive. Pizza seemed to come out quicker, so that might be the way to go. I know things move at a different pace in Italy, especially over the holidays, but this was too much waiting for me. I gave it a try and wouldn't do it again.

We found this place on a recommendation while camping at Il Sarageto, and could see why locals go there. It has a relaxed, charming feel with a slightly fancy touch, and the food and wine are high quality without costing too much. Our waitress spoke English, and there was an English menu too. Service was warm, professional, and careful about COVID rules. If we lived nearby, we'd be regulars.

The room had a lovely view of montecchio castle from one side, though there was also a big road right in front. The place itself was clean and cosy. When we mentioned we might need to check in late, the staff weren't very helpful.

We ended up here because the other restaurant was closed, and it turned out to be a good choice. The homemade food was good and everyone was very friendly. We didn't care for the zuppa inglese, but I don't think that's ever going to be our dessert.
