The garden is enormous, with a large pool, and there’s a BBQ and pizza oven in a small outbuilding. A solid fence and high wall keep dogs from getting loose, and there’s also an olive grove behind the garden that belongs to the house. The valley is so peaceful, with olive groves around and lovely walks through the hills. Sant Margherita, the tiny village below the villa, gives you a taste of authentic Tuscan life. Siena and Florence are close enough for easy day trips. We’ve stayed here twice, most recently with our two nieces and their partners, and they loved the villa’s space and luxury too. One thing to know: wild boar regularly forage in the olive groves outside the wall. They’re fun to watch from the window, but leave them alone and don’t go near them, as they can attack when they have young, which is very dangerous. Upstairs are three double bedrooms. One has an en-suite bathroom with a separate shower, tub, bidet, toilet and basin. The other two share a bathroom with a walk-in shower, bidet, toilet and basin. There’s a third bathroom downstairs in the hallway, also with a shower, bidet, toilet and basin. Downstairs, the kitchen is large and has a dishwasher, double-door fridge-freezer, six-burner gas stove and oven, but no microwave. The dining room has a large table, and the spacious living room is split into two areas, with satellite TV, DVD player, stereo, fireplace, comfortable armchairs and a three-seat sofa. A cupboard under the stairs holds the central heating boiler and washer-dryer. There’s plenty of crockery, games and books in the cupboards for many pleasant evenings.
