Poggio Al Vento

We spent 1.5-2hrs with Roberto, the owner and winemaker, and paid €30 each. He walked us through the soil, vines, harvest, and finished wines, then we tasted them with cold meats and olive oil he also makes. We moved from the vineyard to the cellar and garden, with stunning views all around. It was just my wife and me with Roberto, and that personal, unhurried experience was a real highlight of our four-week trip through Italy so far. These are the kind of special, out-of-the-way finds you hope for while travelling here, but they’re often hidden behind pricier tours and packaged experiences. Roberto took the time to explain the whole process. I can’t recommend a visit to his vineyard highly enough.

There’s a pool with a sunset view, and the apartments are spacious, each with a full kitchen, living room, bedroom, and roomy, clean bathroom. Roberto keeps everything functional and very clean. I love this farmhouse and would absolutely recommend it.

Roberto and his family clearly take pride in the place and in the wines and olive oils they make. The views are hard to beat, and the atmosphere is peaceful. The rooms have plenty of space and everything needed, including a fully working kitchen. But the best part is the view over the vineyard, especially from the pool. Roberto and his family were wonderfully welcoming, too. Don’t miss the breakfast or wine tasting. Just to be clear, this is Roberto’s place in Val d’orchia, Farmhouses Poggio al vento, not the other one up in chianti. A perfect agriturismo experience.
