The drive from the main road made us pause and double-check, but it really is the way in. You’ll want a car for this remote spot, though Cortona and other towns are close enough for day trips. We loved having so much space, with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a straightforward, useful kitchen. There’s room to relax outside too, by the pool or in the hammocks, and Simonetta was genuinely attentive. On August 15 we were even given homemade chocolate pie with ice cream. More rooms are due to open soon, which should bring a little more life to the place. We’d absolutely stay at Fonte Pecciano 1856 again.

A lovely host, a nice house, and a great location.

Our apartment was spotless and well looked after, with a lovely Tuscan feel. We came with friends for a weekend and found it an ideal place to slow down. The owners made us feel welcome and had good suggestions for places to visit and, just as useful, where to eat. With Lake Trasimeno nearby and so many towns across Umbria and Tuscany within reach, there’s plenty around. We’d happily come back.

We took the owners’ tips on sights and restaurants, and both worked out wonderfully. They’re very kind, and the farmhouse is a peaceful place to stay, with beautiful Umbrian countryside views all around. Our apartment was clean and comfortable, and the stone building feels tucked away from everything. We loved the quiet and would gladly return.
