The owner is charming and always there to welcome you when you come and go, and the friendly staff put out a generous breakfast each morning. There are lovely restaurants right outside. We stayed in the penthouse. It isn’t huge, but it has the only balcony in Castiglione del Lago with a panoramic view of the town, tower, churches, and lake. You can sit back in the comfy jacuzzi with a drink and enjoy that view all to yourselves. A charming hotel in the centre of a beautiful village on Lake Trassimeno. We loved our stay!

Paulo and his whole family made us feel welcome and looked after us so warmly. The suite was recently renovated, immaculate, and beautifully furnished, with a central location and generous, responsive service. We hope Julianna was treated just as warmly during her recent semester abroad in the US. Larry and I would gladly recommend staying at HBC, and wish them continued success!

We booked this hotel for one of several stops on our Italy trip after reading other guests’ reviews, and it absolutely lived up to them. Paulo and his family run a high quality, full service place. The technology is amazing for a building dating from 1700, and the room and bathroom were very well appointed. Breakfast was delicious too. We have so many good things to say. If we get the chance to return to Tuscany, we’d stay here again without hesitation. Grazie mille, Paulo!

Sorry this review took me a while, Paolo, but you really were the best host. We came across this paradise while driving around Tuscany, and what a place to stay. The room was incredible. That Renaissance image on the bedroom wall made it feel like sleeping in a museum. From the bed, sheets, and pillow to the bath linen, everything was top notch. I felt like a true nobleman. Thank you for the experience.

We had a great stay and got good value. Paolo and the staff were fantastic, doing all they could to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. Our top-floor room had an amazing view and a nice private hot tub, and they arranged whatever we wanted for breakfast. Parking and getting in were a little complicated, but the young man at reception parked the car and carried our bags up.
