Gallia Palace Hotel

Breakfast was the best part of each day, and the beach club and sea are divine. Pagoda restaurant makes great pizza, and you can charge everything to your room. The rooms were very clean, with prompt daily service. It’s a lovely escape from society, and we’ll definitely return. There were so many mosquitos in the region, though, and there’s no taxi service. The driver they use is rather expensive.

The private beach is beautiful and only a five-minute walk away. We also loved the beach bar and restaurant, a great place for lunch, sunset cocktails, ice cream, and views of Punta Ala Bay. It’s a family-owned “Château et Relais” where we could relax and feel at home. The team was attentive, caring, and welcoming.

The spa was the only part of our stay I really enjoyed. The hotel is very old and outdated, with average service and extremely uncomfortable beds and pillows. It was also full of mosquitos. My main problem is that this isn’t a 5 star hotel. If it had been rated appropriately, we wouldn’t have driven to this area at all. To me, it’s a solid 3 star place.

The dining was excellent, and as someone who is celiac and gluten-free, I felt the staff took care to keep me safe. We also had a massage and other treatments at the excellent spa, and would do that again. The beach setup was nicely arranged and ready for us, reached by a short shuttle ride on request, though it was a bit reduced because the season was late. The pool area was good too. The staff were as responsive as you’d expect from a Relais & Chateau, especially Cinzia & Francesca. The rooms were nice, if a little dated. The spa has a whirlpool, jacuzzi, and wet and dry saunas available on request, with staff keeping an eye on capacity. We’d visit again.
