DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU ONLY SPEAK ENGLISH. When I first arrived, the tourist there told me this wasn't a place for tourists. Then the volunteer staff left me without a room because the employees refused to communicate with me through Google Translate. I showed the volunteers my confirmation email repeatedly, but the only response was that they were “overbooked.”

For €40, you can get a decent room from a nice woman here. It's a modest, comfortable place and, for Catania, a fair deal. The private host is conveniently located for the airport. Otherwise, it's hard to find somewhere to sleep in Catania. I travel a lot around Italy, and Catania is still the city where almost everything costs sky-high prices while services crumble. Hotels asking €90 a night or a little less are shameful for what they offer. That's why I think Catania is the worst city in Italy, a very poor city.

I had a great stay in this room for the night I spent in Catania. It had everything I needed, and I was lucky to have a little café nearby serving hot and cold dishes quickly. Thank you.
