B&B Tra L'Etna e il Mare

I liked my time here. It's a B&B with private rooms in a shared living space, so there's a dog and people chatting around you. The hosts are nice and the rooms are good. It's not right in the centre, but I prefer not being in the middle of all that noise; the 15-minute walk worked great for me. Thanks to the girls for being so welcoming and kind, and for waiting for me. I'll definitely come back and recommend it. People should read the reviews and be prepared before booking.

The American Bulldog is nice, and the service staff are kind and try to help. Still, I found it hard to call this a hotel; it felt more like a hostel or a shared student flat. Reception was rarely there, and some of the staff didn't speak English at all. The bathroom and shower area were very old. On Google Maps it looks well located, but getting there from Catania centre meant a long walk uphill. I had to use navigation every time to find it again. I'm sure there are better places.

For the price, it was okay. The two people running the accommodation were both kind and tried to answer our questions and help. The man, apparently the owner, knew English, while the woman did not, so we used a translator to explain what we needed :). All the rooms are on one floor inside the building, along with the reception and breakfast room. The furniture is generally old, which made the rooms seem not clean enough. It took a while for the shower water to get hot. They changed towels only if we asked, but made the beds and took out the rubbish every morning.

The place was basic, but very clean and comfortable, and we'd absolutely recommend it. It's an easy walk to the centre and everything else, with Villa Bellini just a couple of minutes away. Breakfast was great: fresh pastries, sweet and savoury choices, yoghurt, cereal, bread, juice, milk, tea and several coffees. Alessandro and Ricardo were incredibly friendly and helpful, and Director Alessandra was brilliant too.
