BB A Casa Di Giosi

Our trip got off to a horrible start when we reached Catania and discovered the prepaid apartment didn’t exist. It had apparently been closed for about eight months, and nobody had warned us. There we were at 3 pm on a sidewalk in an unfamiliar city, with my wife and daughter, four bags, no idea what to do, and no Italian. Then Giordano, who runs the family B&B A Casa Di Giosi in the heart of the city, came to our rescue. We were greeted with smiles, and the kindness that followed was extraordinary. The place was clean, fresh, and welcoming. Our private bathroom wasn’t attached to the room, but that was fine with us. The room had high, ornate ceilings that reminded us of a French chateau on TV, like a prince’s room. We felt like royalty. We also had a little balcony overlooking the piazza. Giordano checked in by message every day, and we had an Italian breakfast each morning. We could walk everywhere from there. The central station was 10-15 minutes away for buses and trains, and there was a bus stop on the piazza, a laundromat 50 meters away, a good restaurant downstairs, a pharmacy across the piazza, three small coffee shops around it, and nearby grocery shops. His care for guests makes this little B&B a must. Giordano, thank you so much, and thanks to your wife and son too, for your hospitality, kindness, and help to strangers. You took a holiday that had started on such a sickening low and lifted it back up. You reminded us there are good people in the world.
