Hotel Biscari Catania

We really enjoyed the rooftop terrace and would stay here again. The owner was very nice and accommodating, and the room was lovely, though warm when we first arrived. Turning down the air conditioning helped. The hotel hallways are quite humid, and there are a lot of stairs to climb to reach the hotel. The woman at breakfast was very nice too.

The terrace breakfast was very nice, and the main square is an easy five-minute walk away. We spent three nights in Catania at the Biscari and had a lovely stay. Our room was very large, with a comfortable bed and a pleasant balcony view of the street and Etna in the distance. The staff were friendly, and I’d have no hesitation recommending the hotel.

After 18 days travelling by car down Italy’s west coast to Sicily, this has been our loveliest experience. The hotel has a genuine charm, with big, cozy rooms and breakfast on the rooftop terrace overlooking the sea and city. The owner and staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. There’s no elevator, but we didn’t mind the stairs. The hotel is just steps from the city centre and some amazing restaurants. It’s perfect, and definitely deserves four stars.

The receptionists were kind and helpful, and one even helped me park in the small courtyard. One person didn’t speak English very well, so we had to use Google Translate. The room was spacious and really clean, though its high ceiling made it hard to heat in early spring, when it felt colder inside than outside. Hot water took a little while to arrive, but was fine once it did. Breakfast was amazing, with fruit, hot sandwiches, homemade cakes, and a view over the city. The location is close to the center and to the Alibus stops for the airport. The hotel is on a main street, so there’s noise from 6 in the morning, but shutting the outer window shutters made it okay. There are also blackout curtains, which help keep the room dark and reduce street noise.
