Casa Colapesce

The staff were the best, welcoming us warmly and speaking good English. We arrived late, and they ordered pizza and water for us, then called a taxi for our early morning ride to the airport. They even offered to carry our bags up to the third floor. They did a lot to make us feel at home, and we'd love to stay longer next time. We were a couple staying one night before our flight to Rome, in a large room. There is a kitchen with a fridge, dining table, and small balcony. It has a hostel feel, with a shared bathroom, though there was only one other bedroom. The location is central and not too far from the main bus station.

The host was the best part of our stay. He seemed like a genuinely nice guy who really wanted us to enjoy ourselves. The place itself was clean and inexpensive, and perfectly decent, though the furnishings felt quite dated.

The house itself is a nice place to stay and is well located in the city. But our host was rude and couldn't communicate well. We felt that especially as women, he didn't treat us like individuals with equal rights. When we tried to raise a concern, he didn't seem to listen properly. What happened felt like an extreme case of gaslighting. After that experience, we can't support this kind of person again.

We liked it enough to add another night to our stay. The location was great, and Marco was a wonderful, welcoming host who suggested some great places to visit around Catania.
