Castello D'Urso Somma B&B

We only stayed one night this time, but we’d gladly come back for longer. The room was spacious and had everything we needed. This small country estate is near the airport, with a castle-like main house and a separate guest building with five rooms and a breakfast room. There’s a huge outdoor pool and a large courtyard where guests can sit outside.

Signora Santuzza, the owner’s daughter, made a real effort to welcome us, even though we were only there for one night. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The property is a lovely, well-kept spot close to Catania airport. Coming in from the road felt like stepping into a quieter, more peaceful time, with old-fashioned charm and modern comforts. My husband and I loved it and would highly recommend it.

The staff were lovely and the place itself is beautiful, but getting around was a real problem. The hotel is isolated, and the bus stop is a 10 mintine walk away. I chose it because the map made the beach look close, but walking there along the freeway felt too dangerous. There’s no footpath, just about a meter between the fence and fast-moving cars. The way to the bus stop also had broken glass, rubbish and tall grass, and you have to run across a busy roundabout. The bus only goes to the city, not the beach. There were mosquitoes too. They gave me insecticide to burn on an electronic device, but I was still getting bitten. The staff don’t speak English.

We had a great stay: the hosts were lovely, the food was good, and the pool was great. The location worked well too.
