Catania Crossing B&B Rooms and Comforts

Alexandra and Alessandro were very helpful, and breakfast at the lovely café about 50 m across the street was a nice touch. The rooms are pretty and spacious, and the place is very close to the center. We arrived early, around 10:30, and luckily they let us check in without an extra charge. On weekdays there's a market where you can find everything, but you can't hear it. Everything was perfect.

The room was spacious and cozy, but the owner's response when something went wrong was completely irresponsible and unhelpful. During cleaning, the housekeeper likely threw away my friend's pills. When we raised it, the owner searched the trash, then ignored me when he couldn't find them and didn't understand English. His behavior was rude. After we said we'd contact Expedia, he offered to buy replacement pills and told us to wait in the room. We waited an hour and a half before I called him and found out he had no intention of buying them. He was in town handling his own business instead. My friend had to take the pills within a certain timeframe, but he didn't tell us he wasn't getting them, so we were left waiting. He eventually agreed to pay for the pills, which is the right thing to do when something goes missing on your property, but refused to pay more than what they cost in our home country. We wouldn't have had this expense if the housekeeper hadn't thrown them away. This was unacceptable treatment from someone in hospitality. Proper guest care matters, so avoid this place if you don't want your holiday spoiled.

Our holiday got off to a terrible start when we were left without a room for our first night in Sicily. We had booked through booking.com without any trouble, then our flight was delayed and our arrival time kept getting later. We told the B&B in advance. They charged a late check-in fee that kept rising with each delay, even though that fee and the amount weren't mentioned on their website. They did say they didn't have a 24-hour reception, but eventually told us we couldn't check in at all and cancelled the booking. The situation might have been less infuriating if the manager had handled it reasonably. They wouldn't refund us, not even partially. booking.com also thought this was unacceptable but couldn't help. I'm writing this a year later because the hotel marked my girlfriend's review as fake on the grounds that we never arrived, which was the entire point of her review. They provide poor service and won't accept feedback. One star until I get a proper response and refund.

The host is kind and helpful, and cleaned our room every day. We had delicious breakfast in the cafe lounge, and the rooms were nice and very clean. The location is very good. We had the best holiday in Catania Crossing Rooms!
