Hotel Valentino

We were there for 3 nights in September, and the location was great for seeing Catania. I'd read some earlier reviews after booking and worried a bit, but there was no reason to. The staff were very helpful and got the air conditioning going, maybe they have a magic touch. Our room was large, with a lovely ornate high ceiling, and we had no noise problems.

Room choice may make a difference, but we had a great stay. The room was a good size, with a balcony overlooking an atrium, and the LOCATION!!! We didn't have a wardrobe, so we kept our clothes on the table, but that wasn't much of an issue. The fridge was loud, though we didn't really need it and could simply turn it off. The room and decor could use renovation, but everything was clean, so I couldn't really complain. There's a RESTAURANT beneath the hotel, not a club, and I was never bothered by noise from it. Ear plugs are always a good idea when travelling. You're right in the middle of this beautiful, buzzing city, so please don't complain about a little noise from a very chic restaurant!

The location is excellent, and Francewco is kind and happy to help. For what the hotel offers, though, it's far too expensive. The shower was very small, the plugs didn't work, and the internet was very poor. Old windows let in a lot of noise, even with a strip club next door.

The location is central, with lots of places to eat in the nearby streets. Staff were pleasant and helpful, and the place was clean and simple with a good internet connection. For a 3star hotel, it met my expectations. I was travelling alone without major requirements, and they seem to have worked hard and creatively to make an old town-centre house functional and nicely decorated for modern expectations. Rooms facing the inner court may have a steady hum from air-conditioning at other premises. There's also some kind of night club next door, with thumping that can go on in the evening. Breakfast is basic: different breads, some fruit and cereal, juice, croissants, some cheese and ham, plus the usual drinks. Don't expect a 5star buffet.
