Katane Palace Hotel

The rooms are clean and spacious, and the coffee at breakfast was good, Nespresso. The rest of the breakfast was very minimal, with lots of low-quality pastries, salami, prosciutto cotto, pressed cheese, some fruit, omelette and boiled eggs. The inner courtyard is charming, but it doesn't actually get cleaned. This hotel was built in 2001, yet it looks and feels like a place from the 1950s, with rust and wear all over. Everything seems slow and outdated, like an old man stuck in old habits, and it certainly doesn't feel worth the price. Parking is awkward: street parking is free from 10 pm to 8 am, but the hotel tries to steer you toward its garage for €15 a night. Free parking should be a hotel perk, not an extra cost. There's also a €5 city tax per night. I'd give it 2 stars at best, not the 4 it claims.

We heard every coin dropped and conversations in the corridor through what felt like thin insulation, especially with the wood floors. Still, the streets on both sides were quiet. The bathroom was modern and clean, the mattress comfortable, and the bellhop friendly. The front desk was a little limited, and breakfast was good.

I spent two weeks here and really enjoyed it. The room was comfortable and clean, the staff were friendly and professional, and the location was just right. Breakfast was a treat, with plenty of choices for different tastes. I'd happily come back, and recommend it to anyone after a high-quality stay.

It took about 20 minutes to walk to the main street and places to eat, and the hotel is in an old, run-down area. Even so, we were happy with the accommodation and would stay again. The hotel was pleasant and clean, with an old-world 50's feel. Our room was quiet and clean, though the two single beds pushed together were very hard. Breakfast was good, with fresh fruit and pastries. Thanks to the management and staff for making us comfortable.
