This is a ground-floor, cellar-like apartment without daylight, but the bigger issue is the metal street door, which lets every sound through. At night cars race past, and the noise is easily 80db right next to your bed (see foto). The owner will tell you, "this is a busy town, of course it is noisy!" But when they renovated a few years ago, they saved money by not installing soundproof doors or walls, or even a second door. In Italy, laws require some soundproofing, especially for a bedroom. As it is, you're basically sleeping on the street. If, like me, you were drawn in by the nice photos, leave an appropriate rating and contact booking.com to ask for your money back. Only after enough complaints will booking.com remove the apartment from its site or make them improve it.

A lovely loft apartment in Catania, with the city center close enough to reach on foot. I'd recommend it.

The host was kind and helpful, and we spent three days here without any problems. The kids especially liked having Netflix to pass the time. The apartment is recently renovated, well kept, and equipped with all the comforts, close to the center and many Catania attractions. Our one complaint was the lack of soundproofing. The street was really busy on Saturday night, and the noise went on late enough that we couldn't get a proper night's sleep. I highly recommend the property.

Just steps from Catania's main square, this lovely loft studio has been converted from an old Roman warehouse. It's elegant, clean, well maintained, and has all the comforts you could want. Highly recommended.
