Breakfast was a real highlight, and the rooms were roomy and comfortable. We felt well cared for throughout our three-night stay. Getting into the centre took a bit of effort, though buses do connect you. I was also let down by the €20 daily pool charge. At that price, I thought pool access would come with the room.

We found a calm spot in Catania that was still close enough to the heart of the city. The villa has been modernized and refurbished, and it felt like a home away from home. Our rooms were spacious, cozy, and very clean, and breakfast was first class. Everyone on staff was so helpful and attentive to our needs, which made our first stay here even better. There’s a small parking area too. We’d absolutely come back! ❤️

Chiara, who looked after breakfast and dinner, worked incredibly hard. She helped guests through the app problems, served meals, suggested places for my partner and me, and made sure I was accommodated. As an Italian-British person who visits family in Italy often, I’ve rarely felt so well treated there. It was strikingly LGBT queer-friendly too. She asked how we wanted to be addressed, which almost never happens to me in Italian unless someone is just curious. The restaurant was great and reasonably priced for being outside the city, where tourist prices have climbed and food quality can vary unless you know where to go. It’s closed Sundays. Breakfast was fine, with good choices prepared fresh, though ordering was through a QR code. The staff did their best despite being stretched thin, while the hotel seems to be trying to automate nearly everything with QR codes and self-service fridges. The codes leave things out, including wine by the glass and some concierge options. The so-called honesty bar feels like a cost-cutting move by the conglomerate: you pay full price for drinks you have to mix yourself. The front desk was very helpful, but there weren’t enough people and nowhere to sit while waiting. We were really disappointed that the spa wasn’t open. The website had said it would be ready by the end of September, and even third-party sites and some descriptions presented it as already open. It now seems the estimate has moved to December. I didn’t have time to raise it at the desk, and I’m not usually one to complain there, but we wouldn’t have booked if we’d known. I’d have appreciated a discount or some complimentary food or drinks. Information on the hotel’s sites and virtual concierge links doesn’t seem to be kept in sync or monitored. Our room was furnished decently, though some shower parts were falling apart. During hotel works the water was accidentally shut off once. That wasn’t a big deal, but the repair left a slight sewage smell for a short while that day. I think that was more to do with the works and Sicily’s old, struggling pipes than the hotel itself. The walls were thin, and we could hear other guests, especially in the adjoining bathrooms because of how the rooms are laid out. It didn’t bother me much, but my light-sleeping partner had a harder time.

The staff were some of the kindest and most attentive I’ve come across at a hotel. We also loved the food, from the generous breakfast spread to a dinner full of local flavors. My fiance and I had a great stay: our room was spacious and comfortable, with an incredible Mount Etna view from the balcony, and the shared spaces were comfortable too. Can’t wait to return now that the spa is open!
